The Gang Repression Force (FRG) has received remains that could be those of its four missing Salvadoran soldiers, without being able to confirm if this is indeed the case. It announced this on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Port-au-Prince, according to Rhinews and Vant Bèf Info. A third-party humanitarian organization handed over these remains.
An identity yet to be established
According to Vant Bèf Info, which cites a statement from the force, the FRG specifies that it is unable to say whether these remains belong to the four men. The search continues, both to find them and to understand what happened to them.
Four men missing since the Santo attack
Still according to Vant Bèf Info, the four soldiers have been missing since the October 18 attack in Santo, in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets. The special representative of the FRG, Jack Christides, expressed the force's solidarity: "Our thoughts are with the families of the four missing personnel, their brothers-in-arms, as well as the Salvadoran government and people."
The Chadian identity card
Images of a Chadian military identity card are circulating on social media. The FRG indicates that it belongs to a soldier from its Chadian contingent, who reportedly lost it during the search. This soldier has been found safe and sound and is not among the missing.
The force thanks the Haitian authorities, the troop-contributing countries, and the Salvadoran authorities for their cooperation. It commits to informing the public through its official channels as soon as verified information becomes available.
