The delegation was led by Lucson Philemond, general coordinator of the PNCS, and notably included Gauthier Lekens, Ambassador of France to Haiti, and Lauren Landis, WFP Country Director in Haiti. Patrick Condé, director general of ORE, presented his organization's activities as well as its infrastructure for production and agricultural processing equipment.
The visit focused on the processing of corn and other local products, highlighting the crucial role of local capacity in adding value to harvests and strengthening suppliers of food destined for schools. For the 2026-2027 academic year, this collaboration represents more than 700,000 US dollars according to Vant Bèf Info.
This initiative is part of an in-kind agreement signed between the PNCS and the French Embassy in Haiti on September 15, 2026. The goal is to foster links between national agricultural production and school canteens, thereby supporting local farmers.
Mission to Burundi
A PNCS delegation also carried out an exchange mission in East Africa from October 4 to 10, 2026. This visit aimed to learn about a Burundian school feeding program that prioritizes products from local farmers.
The delegation met with several key stakeholders and visited various facilities, notably the Terimbere cooperative and the Kagwema 1 Fundamental School. These exchanges provided an opportunity to discover practices that could inform the PNCS's thinking on improving school feeding in Haiti.
