Risks of landslides and thunderstorms
Authorities are forecasting showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusts of wind starting on the afternoon of Thursday, October 22. According to Juno7, rainfall accumulations could range between 50 and 100 millimeters during this period. These weather conditions pose threats of flooding and landslides to the regions concerned, particularly in areas identified as vulnerable.
Safety instructions for the population
Civil Protection is asking citizens to obtain information solely through official bulletins and not to spread rumors. Recommendations include securing valuables and important documents. It is advised to build up reserves of drinking water, medication and non-perishable food for several days, while keeping a radio and a flashlight with batteries on hand.
Officials are also calling for travel to be limited. They recommend avoiding mountainous areas as well as proximity to watercourses for the duration of the bad weather.
